We offer a high step above traditional landscaping into the realm of artistic gardens. Our clients take pride in their homes and consider the gardens around their home to be an extension of their living space. Our clients place a premium value on their personal time and they immensely enjoy gardens, flowers, and the appeal of outdoor living, but they typically do not have the time or expertise to create or maintain gardens themselves.

My interest in plants began at the young age of 17, when I learned how to propagate houseplants by taking cuttings and rooting them in water. Before long, my bedroom was overflowing with exotic plants and I had chosen a career direction in horticulture. I graduated with honors from Michigan State University in 1994, earning a bachelor's degree in horticulture and a specialization in greenhouse management. For 7 years I was the horticulturist at the private Walnut Creek Country Club in South Lyon, Michigan where I beautified the grounds by creating and maintaining an extensive collection of gardens. It was here that I gained tremendous experience in garden design and began to master the art of combining plants for beautiful effect. I have a deep reverence of nature and all its creatures, and am in constant awe of the diversity and intricacy of plants, animals, insects, and their interactions. I have been a professional gardener for 15 + years and served as both Vice-President and President of the Association of Professional Gardeners from 2005 to 2007. I founded Specialty Gardens in 2002 with the desire to help home owners achieve the beautiful potential of their own gardens.
